IMPORTANCE OF ROUTINE EYE EXAMINATION IN CHILDREN

Eye and vision problems in children are significant public health issues because it can lead to problem in a child’s normal development, school performance, social interaction and self-esteem.

Eye and vision problem in children doesn’t get better rather worse over time, early diagnosis and treatment is essential to enhance vision and prevent future vision loss.

Parents play an important role in helping to assure their child’s eye and vision can develop properly.

It is recommended that:

  • Between six and nine months: first eye exam
  • Between the age of 2 and 5 years: at least one eye examination.
  • Between the age of 6 and 12 years: a computer eye exam once a year.
  • Between the age of 13 and above: a computer eye examination every one to two years.
