Description
The Centervue DRS is like that gifted toy on Christmas that makes you realize you’re living in your parent’s future. It was the first fundus imaging system that truly was automated– requiring only the ‘Start’ button to self-align and capture the perfectly aligned retinal photo. Its movements remind you of the perfectly tuned sports car– and its intuition puts you in the realization that robotics are among us. It is undoubtedly a staff favorite around these parts despite not being at the forefront of resolution or filed of view; we like to look at its ‘boat-like’ silhouette as well. Some users are quick to mention that the DRS’ alignment takes longer (in aggregate) than a semi-manual device– and since there is no initial manual override, patient compliance is a must.
We also thoroughly enjoy the DRS’ self-contained interface and storage– making the camera feel like a modern smart phone with everything you need right in front of you. Unlike external fundus softwares, patient data is available immediately, allowing the operator to easily enter information, or review past visits with current visit-photos. The 10-inch LCD touch screen was clearly well thought-out, reacting to your immediate request without fuss and is most definitely a major attribute of the DRS.
